Am I allowed to start a review by loudly berating myself for having only just now discovered Jean Hanff Korelitz, a sublimely talented writer?
Consider it done.
But I made up for lost time by devouring this amazing book in record time and am ordering Ms Korelitz’s other books as I write.
“The Plot” is a cleverly written, superbly crafted novel about Jacob Finch Bonner, a struggling writer, a plot, a book, and the consequences that follow.
This is the ultimate novel within a novel, with clever plot twists and a slow, disturbing, unfolding awareness of what might just be about to happen.
I am not short-changing you by writing such a short review – trust me!! – but I absolutely cannot reveal the story line. The novel draws you in, as the writer inexorably comes to terms with his plot, his book, and the far-reaching results of his actions.
It is a great read, and I 100% recommend it.
Do let me know your thoughts 🙂
Sounds great. Have been looking for a new writer to try. Thanks!
Ah – a book to recommend to our book club! Thank you. In return, in case you haven’t yet read it, let em urge you to read Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. This year’s big hit I gather, but don’t let that put you off!
