A quick word about Christine, books & India
This part of starting a blog always seems a little awkward, but here we go.
My name is Christine Pemberton, I am British, and now a full-time, long-term resident of Delhi. I live in a book-lined flat in south Delhi, with Himmat Kalsia, my Indian husband, and our 2 children Hari and Anjulie, who are fast morphing into fully-fledged, independent adults.
I have always loved books, I read English at Oxford, and I have dabbled in writing for years. I have a blog about life in India (http://www.christinepemberton.me) so the next step of starting another blog devoted to books seemed the logical step.
And why about books ?
Well, I am lucky enough to live in India, a country where books and publishing are thriving, and there is still a sense of energy around the written word.
I am in 2 book clubs where everyone is passionate about books. I have friends who are authors and writers and journalists. The buzz about writing just seemed too infectiously noisy to ignore.
So here is my own take on books, on what is being written, and on what we are reading here in India.
